Three years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, security, or social services or as a probation or parole officer; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

A bachelor’s degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

  • Conduct Intake Interviews: Assess inmates upon arrival at the reception center to gather background, behavioral, and criminal history information.
  • Evaluate and Recommend Placements: Recommend appropriate institutional, job, and school assignments that align with security needs, medical/mental health requirements, and rehabilitative goals.

  • DETAIL : The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
  • PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT: Current permanent status classified State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment, if selected.
  • TEMPORARY JOB APPOINTMENT: This position may be filled by temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

  • No Civil Service Test Score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.
  • Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD-214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.
    • Any qualifying experience that is based on college credit/college hours should have an accompanying transcript for verification.

SALARY DEPENDS ON LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE

  • As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Corrections ARDC Specialist 1, Corrections ARDC Specialist 2 or Corrections ARDC Specialist 3, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
    1. The maximum salary for the Corrections ARDC Specialist 3 is $68,806.
