The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Food Service Foreman position at the Anvil Mountain Correctional Center (AMCC) located in Nome, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Supervision of approximately 16 inmates in all aspects of preparation and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals for approximately 115 inmates in a secure institutional setting.
  • Train inmates in the art of food preparation, cooking, sanitation, personal hygiene, safety, and the correct use of institutional kitchen equipment in accordance with the State of Alaska, Department of Environmental Conservation Food Code; this includes preparation of special diets, such as vegetarian, low cholesterol/low fat, diabetic, food allergy, finger food, and other medically prescribed diets.
  • Ensure that security procedures are followed as they pertain to use and storage of knives and other sharps, foods, and contraband.
  • Monitors and records total meals served, cost analysis reports; ensures food service operation is cost effective and within budget.
  • Directs and/or receives, checks, stores, distributes and tracks facility food service inventory; ensures on-going training of kitchen staff.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

Located in Nome, Alaska, Anvil Mountain Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 150 inmates, both male and female. This position will be working closely around inmates and other staff on a daily basis.

PREA NOTIFICATION
The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including, but not limited to, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. Starting salary may be approved up to Step C-$35.16, if criteria are met.

EDUCATION
If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application. CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS/APSIN/ACOMS
Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.

DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENT
