Network Administrator (#021806) Network And Telecommunications, Columbia (Richland)

• Under general supervision installs, test, and maintain building systems for the distribution of data and telecommunications services throughout the SC Department of Corrections.
• Establish a cable or wiring path for the infrastructure of SCDC buildings and institutions.
• Perform the installation, moves, and changes of data and telecommunications equipment.
• Assists users in the proper operation of computers and peripheral equipment.
• Perform emergency repairs to damaged data circuits and telecommunications cables, troubleshoot equipment and systems to locate faults and ensure prompt repairs.
• Replace equipment when needed.
• Maintain required materials and equipment.
• Prepare and submit all required reports in a timely manner.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and experience in information technology systems or related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.


SCDC Minimum Requirements:

(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

• Five (5) years’ experience in design and implementation of telecommunications systems.
• Knowledge of data communications equipment maintenance, repair, modification, design, circuitry and testing equipment.
• Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver’s license.
