Description

Hennepin County Attorney's Office (HCAO) is seeking to fill two County Attorney's Support Supervisor positions (internally classified as support services supervisor, principal) in the Youth Prosecution and Civil division. These positions will manage the day-to-day office administration operations and supervise support staff and act as backup for reception as needed.

Location and hours:
These positions are hybrid and will be performed on-site either at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487 or at the Health Services Building, 525 Portland Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55415, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In these positions, you will:

  • Supervise clerical support functions; select, train, and evaluate legal support staff, determine priorities to schedule, assign work, and/or coordinate clerical workload.
  • Review work in process for accuracy and conformity to administrative requirements.
  • Provide secretarial and administrative support for line attorney and management staff.
  • Write, prepare, and proofread original correspondence, reports, lists, tables and type, format, transcribe, and edit legal documents generated by the unit.
  • Research to find correct information, update systems, and problem solve.
  • Develop and revise work unit policies and procedures related to clerical performance and functions.
  • Request, monitor, and upload documents to a case management system from emails, email inbox, or paper. 
  • Monitor and enter cases in a case management system using various applications to compile information. 
  • Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission, and core values for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Need to Have:

  • Three years or more of office clerical or administrative support experience andone year or more of supervisory or lead worker experience.

  • Experience:
    • Using databases and performing data entry.
    • Coaching and supporting a team. 
    • Supporting and managing support services staff.
    • Working in a legal office, public sector, or office setting. 
    • Supporting racial equity or disparity reduction work through diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. 
  • Ability to:
    • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for support services team.
    • Maintain clear and concise communication with internal/external teams to ensure smooth workflow collaboration.
    • Interact with the public and staff with tact and discretion.
    • Elicit cooperation from others in a positive, constructive manner.
    • Identify and define problems and make decisions.
    • Conduct oneself professionally and to maintain confidentiality.
    • Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services.
  • Skill using:
    • Microsoft Office software (including Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel), and Outlook or other email/calendar programs.
    • MNCIS, MGA, and ProCase.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
