Description

 The Borough of Coplay, Pennsylvania is seeking applicants for an entry level police officer.  This is a Civil Service category governed by applicable laws, ordinances and regulations of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Borough of Coplay.  The Borough of Coplay offers an excellent benefits package and a starting salary of $29.88 per hour for 2025. 

There will be a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) non-refundable application fee paid by check, cash, or money order at the time of application.  Applications and all necessary forms, including physical agility waiver, may be obtained at the Coplay Borough Municipal Building, 98 S. 4th Street, Coplay, PA. Applications may also be found online or e-mailed if requested. Completed forms must be returned to the Coplay Borough Municipal Building during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Deadline for completed applications is June 27th, 2025.

The physical agility and written testing will be conducted on June 28th, 2025, starting at the Atlas Sports Complex outdoor field located on Clear Springs Drive between Lerchenmiller Dr and Horwith Dr. in Northampton PA 18067. Physical Agility testing will begin at 8 a.m. Those passing the physical testing will move onto written testing, to be completed at the Coplay Borough Municipal Building, 98 S. 4th Street, Coplay, PA at 10 a.m.  Valid photo identification (i.e., driver’s license) will be required for admission to the tests.  Only those who have submitted a completed application, along with the application fee by the deadline, will be allowed admittance. 

To apply for a position as police officer, a person must be a citizen of the United States, must be at least 21 years of age, must be a high school graduate or possess a General Equivalency Diploma (GED), must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and MUST BE ACT 120 CERTIFIED and maintain certification. Candidates who are enrolled in a current Pennsylvania Act 120 Police Academy program may apply but must successfully obtain a MPOETC certification for Act 120 by the time of conditional offer of employment is prepared or be disqualified. Successful applicants must pass the written examination, physical agility examination, oral interview, psychological examination, background investigation and medical examination including drug testing. Polygraph testing may be waived if requirements are met.  Physical Agility standards are posted on www.coplayborough.org/forms.html
