Testing Process:
- Oral Interview

Training:
- Out of state applicants will complete a two-week equivalency academy
- Lateral officers begin with an accelerated field training program consisting of three phases
Job Requirements:
- Age 21 at time of appointment
- High school diploma / GED
- Free of felony convictions
- Laterals must have a minimum of two years of experience as a police officer, and have worked as such at least 24 months within the last 36 months serving in a City, County, or State police agency and must have graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Academy (BLEA) through the Washington State Criminal Justice Commission (CJTC), or another state sanctioned general authority Washington State police academy, or a full authority out-of-state police academy recognized by CJTC for equivalency.
- Exceptional Entry level candidates must meet the same requirements a a Lateral Police Officer, with the exception of time worked as a certified, general authority police officer (less than 24 months).
