Position Information

Salary:

  • Starting:
    • Entry Level: $73,828.88
    • Lateral Entry: $75,984.69 - $87,610.85, DOE (as of May, 2026)

    Entry Level:

    • 48 hours of vacation time
    • 60 personal hours (prorated depending on hire date, full amount every May)
    • 12 floating holiday hours (used as personal day)
    • 12 hours of sick leave accumulated monthly

    Lateral Entry:

    • Officers reach the top of the pay scale once earning 5-years of service
    • Vacation time:
      • 60 hours after 1 year
      • 120 hours after two years
      • 180 hours after 5 years
      • additional 12 hours each year after 10 years
    • 60 personal hours (prorated depending on hire date, full amount every May)
    • 12 floating holiday hours (used as personal day)
    • 12 hours of sick leave accumulated monthly

    Additional Employee Benefits:

    • $2,000 annual clothing allowance
    • Longevity pay beginning at 5th year (including lateral transfer years of service) $300 per year – compounding to a maximum of $6,000 at year 20 (i.e.. 5 years = $1,500, 6 years = $1,800 etc.)

Position Details

The Board of Police Commissioners of the City of Marseilles, Illinois is accepting applications for Entry-Level and Lateral-Entry Police Officer Applicants with the Marseilles Police Department.

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the City of Marseilles:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum of 21 years of age AND shall be under the age of 35 by the application deadline date (June 30, 2026) unless exempt from such age limitation as provided in Section 5/10-2.1-6 of the Fire and Police Commissioner's Act
  • Be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. equivalent
  • Possess a valid State of Illinois driver's license
  • Must agree to comply with all requirements of the position and have the ability to pass all examination and training requirements, including, but not limited to:
    • background investigation
    • psychological
    • medical examination, etc.
  • No felony or certain misdemeanor convictions
