The City of Hilliard is currently accepting applications from October 1st through October 31, 2024.  Candidates must apply to this open position (Website) and take the NTN exam and Public Safety Self-Assessment by October 31, 2024.  The NTN exam can be scheduled by visiting https://www.nationaltestingnetwork.com/publicsafetyjobs 

Candidates who are OPOTA certified and are currently working with an agency as an officer would be considered a Lateral.   These candidates would not need to complete the NTN exam but would need to apply to the open position by October 31, 2024 in order to be considered.  

Military Credit: If you have served or are serving in the United States military service and wish to receive credit, you must provide a copy of your discharge form (DD214) or a copy of your current military id online with the application.  The deadline to submit the DD214 is October 31, 2024.  

If candidates move forward in our process, they will be invited to the Physical Fitness Test scheduled for November 17th. 

HIRING PROCESS:  
October 1st- October 31st: Candidates complete NTN Test and PSSA and submit online applications on the City's website
Physical Fitness Testing:  November 17th
Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) is sent to candidates to complete
Oral Board Interviews- Week of December 9th

Position Description:

Under the direct supervision of a Sergeant or Senior Officer in Charge, a Police Officer patrols a designated area ensuring compliance with all applicable State laws and City ordinances; answers calls when a crime is suspected or an emergency exists; takes such action as necessary to prevent crime and/or to apprehend a criminal; maintains safety; assists citizens in a wide range of emergency and non-emergency situations; and performs other related duties, tasks, and assignments as required and directed by an Agency Supervisor or the Chief of Police. The Hilliard Division of Police subscribes to the "Community-Oriented Policing" philosophy and therefore, the primary emphasis of the position involves community service. Officers are required to take a problem-solving approach to the situations they encounter on a day-to-day basis and to interact with the residents on a regular basis within the City of Hilliard to address relevant concerns facing the community.
