Work Location: The primary work location for this position could be any of the CDOC Parole Office located within the State of Colorado. Frequent travel throughout the state may be required.

The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) is recruiting for a dynamic leader, as the Deputy Director for the Division of Adult Parole. This position reports to the Director of Adult Parole and serves as a pivotal member of the executive team. This position is non-classified, not governed by the state personnel system, which is a performance-based pay plan reserved for senior-level management positions responsible for relatively large or important segments of a principal department.
In conjunction with the Director of Adult Parole, the position will provide overall leadership, management and oversight for statewide Adult Parole operations which includes: Community Supervision for Parolees, Inmates, and Community Corrections Transitional Offenders; Facility and Community Based Offender Reentry Programming Efforts; Finance and Administration; and Policy and Accreditation.
Major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Overall management of 19 state-wide parole offices and related operations.
- Provide leadership, management and direction to professional senior level staff.
- Analyze, Develop, and implement policy for the Division of Adult Parole.
- Function within broad departmental guidelines ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, legal actions and orders which requires strong, inter-agency working relationships with state agencies, federal, state, county, local, private, and military law enforcement authorities; fulfill requirements of legal actions and life safety; progressively collaborate with internal and external constituents, legislative officials, governmental and non- governmental support agencies.
- Oversee and direct, through appropriate delegation, all human resources activities for the Division.
- Provide oversight for the Division's financial, budget and grant activities in order to increase efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with other agencies, entities and treatment providers on behalf of the CDOC.
- Provide oversight for the Division's facility and community based reentry offender programs.
- Uphold public safety while providing services and programs to assist offenders in successful community reentry.
- Ensure efficient, elegant and effective customer service is provided to the stakeholders of Colorado which includes exemplary responsiveness.
- Understand, develop, and implement performance based outcome measures, managing effective operations while ensuring performance measures are met.
- Identify areas for improved efficiencies and establish methods to implement and measure efficient improvement strategies.
- Understand and treat the public, staff and offenders with professional respect and dignity through all interactions.
- Other duties, as needed.
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, Social Work, Counseling, Organizational Behavior or closely related field. EXPERIENCE: Six (6) years of progressively responsible professional correctional, criminal justice, parole or community corrections management experience. This experience mustinclude all of the following:
- Two (2) years managing a large multiple level organization through subordinate level staff;
- Two (2) years of professional public or business administration which included establishing organization structure, developing strategic work plans, budget development and control, setting goals and objectives to achieve program results and fostering a team environment.

Substitutions: Experience which provided the same kind, amount and level of knowledge acquired in the required education, may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the bachelor's degree.
Professional work experience is defined as work that involves exercising discretion, analytical skill, judgment, and personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, and sharing an organized body of knowledge that characteristically is uniquely acquired through an intense education or training regimen at a recognized college or university; equivalent to the curriculum requirements for a bachelor's or higher degree with major study in or pertinent to the specialized field; and continuously studied to explore, extend, and use additional discoveries, interpretations, and application and to improve data, materials, equipment, applications and methods.Required Competencies:

Preferred Qualifications:
- Senior level management experience within a correctional environment;
- Experience managing and directing a governmental, correctional organization which includes the ability to develop proven inter-agency relationships with state, federal, and local agencies.

- Must be able to see and hear in order to observe, address and respond to potential breaches in safety and security
- Seize, hold, control or subdue violent or assaultive persons and defend oneself or others to prevent injury
- Demonstrate body agility, strength of all four limbs and the ability to walk and climb stairs consistently
- Work in situations involving assaultive behavior, physical control of another person and/or restraint situations
- Deal with individuals with a range of moods and behaviors, utilizing tactfulness and a congenial, personable manner
