This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution a medium custody, male felon diagnostic processing center with a population of 850 offenders and 360 staff. Work in this class involves first-line supervision to Correctional Officer II's in the medium custody facility, increasing the custody and security coverage. Positions assign lower level custody staff to a particular area or post after inspecting each staff and determining if they are physically and mentally capable. Employees oversee officer activities and performance and ensure that the custody, security and welfare of offenders is maintained. Employees arrange work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implement operational procedures and ensure rules and regulations are followed according to policy. Employees in this classification will complete, reveiw and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations and other administrative forms. Accounts for persons and assets to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
“As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state’s pay plans which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025.
