About the Division:

The Special Operations Division is comprised of the Aviation Section and the Executive Services Section. The Division also oversees the Awards Committee. The Washington State Patrol Aviation Section operates from a main office located at the Olympia airport. The section provides aerial law enforcement and traffic management support as well as transportation services for the governor and other state agency personnel. The Executive Services Section (ESS) provides security and protection for the Governor, the Governor’s family, the Lieutenant Governor and the Governor’s Mansion. In addition, the Executive Services personnel provide contracted law enforcement services and visitor security on the state Capitol Campus. The Special Operations Division oversees the agency awards program with the division commander serving as the chair for the Department Awards Committee. The department recognizes and rewards employees or persons outside the department who perform an outstanding service or act while aiding the department.About the Position:
The Administrative Assistant 4 is the primary administrative assistant within the Special Operations Division. The position is responsible for the oversight of administrative operations. The incumbent will ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance with the law, policy, procedure and all approved practices. It is imperative that this position works well with others, as they interact daily with the division's captain, lieutenants, sergeants, and troopers. This position must also work with WSP bureaus, districts and divisions, other local, state, and federal entities, non-government entities, and the public, to accomplish the agency and division mission and goals.

Our new teammate will be able to:
  • Provide administrative support to the head of a Division.
  • Facilitate work on behalf of the Division Commander and their managers and supervisors.
  • Update procedures related to administrative matters.
  • Prepare briefing materials, reports, and other supporting materials to be used by the Division Commander.
  • Provide office wide support to the division.
  • Act as a liaison between Division members and stakeholders.
  • Direct and coordinate special projects.
  • Prepare annual reports and resolves contractual issues.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Process employee confidential records and facilitate the on-boarding of staff.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

*Note: On occasion the incumbent may be required to travel statewide for training.
