Salary Range: $6,504 - $7,540 Monthly

This position is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees.

This position requires in-facility work daily.

The Washington State Department of Corrections has a unique opportunity for an experienced construction guru to join the Peninsula View Reentry Center as a Construction and Maintenance Project Lead! The Construction and Maintenance Project Lead directly contributes to the agency’s mission to improve public safety by positively changing lives by keeping critical infrastructure, equipment, and security systems in functional working order which contributes to the overall safety and security of the reentry center, staff, and the community.

Under the direction of the Reentry Center Manager, the Construction and Maintenance Project Lead maintains and oversees maintenance and construction projects at the Reentry Center during warm closure.

This positions directly manages and supervises all phases of construction, maintenance, and repair of the building grounds, plumbing, electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment to ensure the building and all items inside the facility are in good working order. This position is also responsible for overseeing the mechanical systems, boilers, hot water tanks, plumbing, refrigeration, and the HVAC systems. This position is responsible to develop and plan long range preventative maintenance programs, prepare reports, and develop capital project requests which are critical to sustaining buildings and equipment. The position directly supports the purpose of the division to provide targeted opportunities for success by maintaining the Reentry Center for warm closure

As a Construction and Maintenance Project Lead, some of your duties will include:

Develop, complete, and document assigned maintenance work orders relating to building, grounds and equipment maintenance and repairs, maintaining facility in good working order 24/7:

  • Schedule work to be completed based upon its assigned priority
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair work on all types of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment
  • Perform duties of a Construction and Maintenance Mechanic
  • Complete and/or schedule preventive maintenance, as scheduled, on related equipment and vehicles
  • Perform work installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing, electrical, steam, heating, domestic and irrigation water pump systems, carpentry, painting
  • Maintain hardware (lock devices & keys)
  • Monitor potable water distribution systems and wastewater systems
  • Provides on-site inspection of buildings, grounds equipment and fixtures to determine need for maintenance or repair

Maintaining the beautification and safety of the outdoor facility grounds:

  • Order and maintain an inventory of tools and supplies needed to maintain the facility and grounds in a safe and clean manner

Provide and maintains records relating to the maintenance of the facility and work performed

  • Conduct monthly and quarterly safety and sanitation checks
  • Document work performed, project hours and costs
  • Maintains the CCTV System and complete any repairs as needed
  • Vehicle custodian

Safety Representative

  • Responsible for state, city/local inspections, and compliance with DOH, Safety and Fire standards
  • Lockout/Tagout Plan Manager.
*Other duties as assigned

What we need (required qualifications):

  • High school diploma or equivalent

AND

  • Two years as a Construction and Maintenance Project Specialist

OR

  • Three years as a general repairer

OR

  • Four years of journey-level experience in two or more construction or building trades. Vocational training up to two years may be substituted for this experience
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License

  • Two years of experience and completion of recognized apprenticeship in at least two skilled trades
  • Four years of applicable work experience or vocational training
