  • $90,759.96 - $97,516.80 (Based on the current CBA and individual experience)
    • 2-5 years experience: $90,759.96
    • +5 years experience: $97,516.80

    Patrol Officer Maximum Wage: $104,191.78 (Based on the current CBA)

Position Details

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Palos Hills Fire and Police Board of Police Commissioners:

  • Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and under 35 unless exempt by 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6;
  • Education: Minimum High School Diploma, or GED Certificate, or High School Proficiency Statement;
  • Character: As set forth and required by 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6;
  • Certification: Must have a full-time police officer certification for the State of Illinois
  • Experience: Must have at least two (2) continuous years of full-time service and completed any probationary period in good standing
  • Testing: Oral interview, medical, psychological testing;
  • Minimum Commitment: Minimum commitment of 36 months, subject to reimbursement of hiring and training costs if 36 months are not completed. A written reimbursement agreement must be signed as a condition of employment

Disqualifications for employment include any of the following:

  • Is found lacking in any of the preliminary requirements of a police officer (good moral character, temperate habits, sound health, physically able to perform the duties of a police officer)
  • Is addicted to the use of drugs, narcotics, or intoxicating beverages or suffers from substance abuse
  • Has been convicted of any felony or a crime involving moral turpitude or convicted of a misdemeanor as specified in 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6.
  • Has character and unsatisfactory employment references

  • If the applicant has college experience, a copy of his or her college/university transcripts -AND- diploma (if degree conferred)
  • If the applicant has military service, a copy of his or her Military Service Record Form DD-214
  • Copy of Law Enforcement Certification as a Police Officer in the State of Illinois
  • Full medical and background release
  • All law enforcement training
