This is the intermediate level where the employee performs a range of storekeeping assignments. Employees at this level functions Inventories supplies stocked in Central Supply and orders supplies for all area of Materials Management. Assist in the receiving, rotating, and distributing of medical and stationery supplies to DWH, C-Unit, and RGC. Has knowledge of computer skills in MS Word, MS Outlook, and MS Excel. Has the ability to enter ordering and receiving data in those programs plus the Sigma, Staples, and Amazon programs. Submit orders into Sigma for RGC complex. Inventories supplies stocked in healthcare areas for Jackson facilities. Submits order and / or reimbursement forms for employee uniforms, shoes etc. for UAW, MSEA and AFSCME and maintains files.

Assist courier duties for the facility. This position is located 100% behind secured perimeter. This is a drug and alcohol test designated position

Storekeeper E6
One year of experience in the storage, handling and distribution of materials, or in the operation of mail handling and sorting machines, and related equipment.

Storekeeper 7
Three years of experience in the storage, handling and distribution of materials, or in the operation of mail handling and sorting machines, and related equipment, including two years equivalent to the Storekeeper E6.Some positions within this class series are assigned job duties that may require possession of the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the Secretary of State as required by Public Act 346 of 1988 to operate a designated state vehicle.

The Department of Corrections will not hire individuals who have been convicted of a felony or who have felony charges pending, in accordance with Public Act 140 of 1996.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
