This position serves as the head warden of this correctional facility.

Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the managerial level or above with direct-line supervisory responsibility over two or more subordinates:

Six years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises plus one of the following:

1. Six years of full-time experience in any field; or
2. A bachelor's degree.

OR

A master's degree plus five years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises; OR

A doctorate plus four years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted.

In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.

Job Duties:

The incumbent of this position serves as Chief Administrator of B.B. "Sixty" Rayburn Correctional Center (RCC). RCC is classified as a Level of Care (LOC) 2 facility housing Adult male offenders with an authorized TO count of 310 as well as seven job appointments and seven WAEs for a total of324, as well as numerous contractual and volunteer staff members. RCCs operational capacity is 1,320 with a rated capacity of 1,376.

LA DPS&C – CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)

  • DETAIL: The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.

Position-Specific Details:

The Warden is responsible for managing, planning, directing, supervising, and coordinating all areas of operation for the care and custody, training, rehabilitation, and welfare of offenders. The warden has authority at the agency level and is on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
