Schedule is currently Sunday-Thursday 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Schedule will be determined by supervisor due to maintaining the efficiency of governmental operations.

Days off are Friday and Saturday.

This position will be located at the Polk County Jail.

Fifth District, Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated, skilled Probation/Parole Officer 1.

What You’ll Do
As a Probation/Parole Officer 1, you will:

  • Research criminal history information for all defendants at Polk County Jail who will have initial appearance using ICON, ICIS, ILEADS, and the NCIC database. Interview defendants to obtain additional information/data needed to complete risk assessments.
  • Complete the pretrial risk assessment tool in ICON using criminal history information obtained from research. Make recommendations regarding release to the court/judge based on the risk assessment.
  • Complete Pretrial intake paperwork with clients upon their release from jail.
  • Supervise Level 1 through Level 3 Pretrial Release clients.
  • Review the initial appearance list daily for clients already on probation, parole or pretrial release supervision.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree in any field.
  2. A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience in a human services or criminal justice field, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
  3. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes 18 months of full-time work as a Residential Officer.
