MEDICAL DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR
FULL-TIME UNCLASSIFIED POSITION
This position will serve as the Director of all Hospital & Medical Services providing on-site health care services, including but not limited to, procedures requiring conscious sedation, for inmates in Louisiana State Penitentiary.

SALARY DEPENDS ON QUALIFICATIONS: $150,000 - $190,000
Position Specific Details
- Provides administrative authority and supervision over the entire operations of a Treatment Center (Medical Level of Care-1 and Mental Health Level of Care 1) with the goal of delivering effective and efficient medical services to the inmate population in a State Correctional Facility.
- This involves recruiting, training, supervising personnel, monitoring and evaluating performance, identifying risks, and opportunities creating long- term strategies while ensuring alignment with best practices and effective patient care.
- Oversees the development and implementation of programs and policies for patient services, quality assurance, and department activities.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to identify their issues and needs.
- Provide administrative authority and supervision over the entire Medical Services Department. Monitors the fiscal operating budget of approximately 22+ million dollars to ensure efficient allocation of resources.
- Directs and coordinates all activities of all departments within the treatment center to ensure federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and institutional goals are followed. These departments include Physician's Services, Nursing Services, Dental Services, Laboratory, Radiology, Health Information Management Services, Pharmacy, Emergency Medical Services, Mental Health Services, Hospice, Infection Control, Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Services and Administrative Services.
