Description Plan, implement and evaluate health care:
* Includes completing nursing assessments on Incarcerated Individuals.
* Includes physical examinations of all reported Incarcerated Individual injuries/illness (may include
staff injuries).
* Includes nursing procedures.
* Provide emergency first aide and CPR.
* Must be able to respond to Code Blue or emergency situations with arrival in expedient, timely
manner.


Document nursing functions completed utilizing DOC policy/procedures:
* Document nursing assessments, interventions, planning and evaluations.
* Must be able to document in order to accurately describe events or findings.
* Must be able to speak, write and follow instructions in English language.
* Must be aware of and comply with all policies/procedures.
* Must complete computer documentation.

General Psychiatric Nurse Duties:
* Assess patients to identify appropriate psychiatric nursing interventions.
* Collaborate with members of an inter-disciplinary health team to plan, implement, coordinate,
and evaluate client care.
* Monitor, assess, address, document and report symptoms and changes in client's condition.

Communicate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDP):
Must be able to deliver written and verbal information to Incarcerated Individuals and off-site
medical personnel.

Insure that training is provided:
* Provide Incarcerated Individual training, i.e., medication, daily cares.
* Provide staff training.

Assist with direct health services;
* Including assisting physician, dentist, optometrist, X-ray and/or lab services.
Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator's Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
