Mechanic IV (#015617) Vehicle Maintenance, Columbia (Richland)

• Perform duties as the primary technical service writer and adviser for vehicles, heavy trucks, and heavy equipment belonging to SCDC and other city, county, and state agencies.
• Provide evaluations and assessments for required repair and maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Perform test operation to ensure work was performed properly.
• Supervises the vehicle maintenance work order and parts inventory system to ensure accountability and compliance with agency policies.
• Supervises inmate staff assigned to the parts room and provides training while ensuring the security of the vehicle maintenance facility.
• Assists the shop supervisor with the coordination and assignment of repair and maintenance tasks.
• Assist with agency's vehicle maintenance shop certification.

Work experience involving the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment.

• A high school diploma and two (2) years ‘work experience in service, repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Experience in the use of electronic diagnostic equipment.
