Cadre Team Leaders, within the Office of the Military, Nevada Army National Guard, educate, train and mentor at-risk 16 to 18-year-old youth in a 24-hour/7-days-a-week setting who have not completed high school, are high school credit deficient, and demonstrate a desire to improve their potential for success and lead productive lives. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The Battle Born Youth ChalleNGe Academy (BBYCA), located in Carlin, assists 16 to 18-year-old males and females to reclaim their potential through education, mentoring and service in a highly structured, quasi-military training environment. Team Leaders are responsible for the direct supervision of assigned Cadets participating at BBYCA, and teach the Cadet disciplinary process; provide direct instruction in the program’s eight core components; and conduct Cadet physical training related exercises, as well as role model appropriate life coping skills.
