The Hudson Police Department is located within the city of Hudson, Ohio. The city of Hudson is located between Cleveland and Akron in Northeast Ohio. Covering 25.6 square mile, Hudson has a population of over 23,000 residents. Hudson is know for its excellent school system and well-educated residents who are engaged in their schools and community. The City's active volunteer spirit, commitment to historic preservation and pride make Hudson a unique and desirable community. The Hudson Historic Downtown District includes many commercial and residential buildings that are on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors describe Hudson as having a quaint New England charm. 

In addition to ensuring the safety and security of the city, Hudson Police works closely with the communtiy, providing many services, such as:

  • Community-oriented policing
  • Juvenile diversion programs
  • Vacation watch and senior watch visits
  • Participation in METRO SWAT, Bike Unit, Detective Bureau, US Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force

Hudson Police Department is staffed by:

  • 32 full-time officers
  • 7 full-time dispatchers
  • 3 part-time dispatchers
  • 3 auxilliary officers
  • 2 civilian personnel

Police Officers hired with our department must meet eligibility requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • A citizen of the United States of America
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid State of Ohio's Drivers License, or ability to procure one upon hire
  • State of Ohio Peace Officer Ceritification at time of appointment
  • Successful passage of background check, polygraph, health physical and drug screen

Hudson Police Pay Scale and Benefits include:

  • Annual pay $66,352 - $88,150 DOE
  • Shifts are 12 hours plus shift differential pay added to per hour pay
  • Annuual longevity pay beginning during 4th year of employment (starting at $530 topping out at year 25 at $1,790)
  • Educational Incentive of up to 1% of base pay for holding Associate and/or Bachelor degree
  • Annual Firearm Proficiency Pay of $500 for scoring 85% or higher for State Qualification Course
  • Receive 2 weeks vacation, 15 paid holidays, and 120 hours sick during first year of employment
  • Participation in Ohio Police & Fire pension
  • Excellent Health, Dental and Vision plans. Employer provides HRA of up to $5000 for medical deductible.
  • Eligible to participate in Ohio Deferred Compensation 457 and Roth Plans
