DESCRIPTION
Provides counseling, psychotherapy, consulting, and outreach services to individuals in residential, home, inpatient, outpatient, and rehabilitation, correctional or similar settings. Capable and qualified to assess and diagnose clients with mental health conditions and emotional disorders as well as provide counseling resources that promote healthy coping strategies and improve overall well-being. Clinical social work is defined as the application of methods, principles and techniques of case work, group work, community organization, administration, planning, consultation, research and psychotherapeutic methods and techniques to persons, families and groups to facilitate the treatment of family issues, mental and emotional conditions, illnesses and disorders, and developmental delays.
This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

- Conducts assessments with individuals through interviews, reviews of medical records including social, developmental, and medical history, as well as other historical records. Uses assessment to determine appropriate diagnosis, if applicable, as well as strengths, presenting problems, appropriate therapeutic interventions, needed resources, and eligibility for applicable programs and services.
- Performs crisis intervention utilizing appropriate behavioral and environmental controls for individuals who may be hostile, combative, aggressive or assaultive; follow established protocols and policy in order to protect self, individual, staff, family, and others potentially at risk due to exhibited behavior; recommends and completes documentation for voluntary and involuntary hospitalization.
- Participates in treatment planning and implementation by attending treatment team meetings, case conferences, or individual sessions; reports direct observations regarding individual progress and recommends changes in the treatment plan as appropriate; evaluates necessary daily living skills to determine educational and vocational service needs; develops and coordinates treatment plans and implement interventions with individuals in order to achieve treatment goals.
- Conducts individual, family and group therapy or intervention sessions with individuals by applying a variety of therapeutic techniques in order to effect change in behavior; determines the duration and appropriate method of therapy or intervention; identifies and implements changes in the treatment process as determined by individual progress.
- Develops and provides input on discharge and aftercare plans; provides information to individual regarding available resources to achieve treatment goals and facilitates return to the least restrictive environment possible; acts as an advocate through interactions with external agencies and organizations such as courts, welfare, school, juvenile justice, probation and parole, and related social service agencies and community organizations.
- Oversees case management services to ensure development of treatment plans and that client progress is monitored.
- Documents contacts and progress; tracks and records information for statistical purposes; writes required reports at established intervals; completes billing forms and other documentation as required.
- Reviews clinical records written by professionals, paraprofessionals, and technical staff to monitor and evaluate treatment effectiveness, ensures service delivery goals are met, makes appropriate recommendations, and ensures documentation is completed according to established policy and procedures.
- Reviews and evaluates program services and activities to ensure program integrity and adherence to agency policies, applicable accreditation standards, licensing requirements, and community standards of care.
- Develops and presents in-service training regarding current social work topics, issues and procedures; consult and educate representatives of community service agencies and referral services; attends training seminars and participate in on-going professional development.
- Provides oversight and training as field instructor for university students in their MSW program as assigned.
- Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.

Education and Experience:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work approved by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers. License Clinical Social Worker [LCSW] in the state of Nevada; AND three (3) years of experience performing social casework, case management; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by Human Resources.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of:
- Diagnosing mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders utilizing the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5).
- Theories and principles of counseling and psychotherapy.
- Symptoms, characteristics and treatment of mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, developmental delays and family functioning.
- Crisis intervention techniques.
- Case management practices and procedures.
- Individual, marital, group and family intervention techniques.
- Family systems approaches to treating individuals with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and developmental delays.
- Laws governing abuse and neglect of youth; normal and abnormal human growth, behavior and development.
- Youth rights and confidentiality of information; effects of substance abuse on mental, emotional, and human growth and development; services, roles and responsibilities of human services agencies in the community.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid Driver’s License.
- CPR & First AID, Bloodborne Pathogen, and AED training within six (6) months from date of employment
- JIREH Certification within six (6) months from date of employment
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Nevada
