Description Under general supervision, answers emergency and non-emergency telephone calls; receives and processes requests for law enforcement and other emergency services, and dispatches to appropriate personnel/department for response in a professional and timely manner.Maintains constant radio contact with mobile units by base radio. Maintains constant awareness of the status of mobile units and updates this information as it changes. Receives radio calls from field units and transmits messages via radio or telephone.

Receives emergency calls requesting police or other emergency service, determines nature and location of emergency, determine priority and dispatches emergency units as necessary.

Coordinates emergency calls and relays information and assistance requests involving other public safety agencies.

Receives non-emergency calls for assistance. Receive and route administrative calls. Assist complainants in the lobby. Receive calls about injured birds/animals and forward appropriately. Take calls regarding beach parking/issues with pay stations. Communicate certain city ordinances
with visitors. Answers calls for seasonal weather concerns.

Monitor city traffic cameras. Monitor city weather software.

Monitors jail board in Detention Officer’s absence. Assist callers with bond information for those in jail. Performs searches on arrestees.

Enters data into and obtains information from the ACJIC/NCIC systems, including but not limited to information pertaining to stolen goods, missing persons, driver's licenses, automobile records, warrants, and criminal histories.

Receives and reviews a wide variety of documents including pass-on information, , repossession paperwork, restraining order copies, court order copies, warrant recalls, and related documentation.

Assist customers in absence of Records Clerk. Coordinate with other City departments (Streets, Duty Mechanic, etc.).Education and Experience:
High School Education or Equivalent; and, no experience; or, any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licenses and Certifications:
Necessary- NCIC Operator Certification (must be obtained within 6 months of employment)
Desirable- Automated External Defibrillator (AED)IMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:
