Testing is being conducted for anticipated hiring and to establish an Eligibility List for future hiring needs.
The Board of Police and Fire Commissioners of the Village of Crete is now accepting applications for the position of: Police Officer
The Crete Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that endeavors to address specific citizen concerns as well as respond to criminal activity and emergencies. They strive to provide a high quality of police service for their citizens and businesses.
The Crete Police Department values keeping its officers involved in other opportunities. You must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Driver’s License: Must have a valid Driver’s License and the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon hiring.
- Age Requirements: Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday; or 20 if you have successfully completed two years of law enforcement study at an accredited college or university and be under the age of 35 years old at the last date of filing applications, unless they have been certified and employed as a full-time law enforcement officer for a municipality in the United States or are otherwise exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1.
- Education: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character.
- Testing: Must be able to participate and successfully complete all stages of the testing process.
- Residency: No Residency Requirements
- P.O.W.E.R Card: Must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card issued within the last 12 months at the time of application (NIPSTA www.nipsta.org, Triton www.triton.edu/power or Joliet Junior College 815-280-2674
- Participate in a mandatory remote on-line written examination (Test will be available to applicants between Wednesday, September 3, 2025 and Friday, September 5, 2025)
- Application deadline is Friday, August 22, 2025 at 4:00 PM.
