Salary: $142,512 Annually

The Washington State Department of Corrections Reentry division provides people with focused opportunities for success. This includes building relationships, mentoring each other, and modeling behaviors we wish to see. We are searching for a dedicated leader to join the Reentry division as a Reentry Administrator, who emboldens all guiding principles of the Reentry division. The goal of this position is to provide comprehensive oversight of up to twelve 24/7 facilities statewide, housing minimum custody population of up to 959 individuals (operational capacity varies).

This position is integral to the DOC's vision of enhancing public safety through transformative correctional and community services aimed at reducing recidivism. As the Reentry Administrator, you will ensure incarcerated individuals are held accountable while receiving the necessary tools and resources for successful reintegration into society. Your tasks could include directing operations, developing effective reentry programs, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including community corrections, prisons, classification, health services, and community reentry service providers.

Collaboration skills will be put to full use as you will meet with, and respond to, external stakeholders and influencing people outside of the organization. The Reentry Administrator fosters a culture of accountability and growth, ensuring that every program aligns with the DOC's strategic objectives. Additionally, the position requires strategic leadership in policy formulation and resource management, ensuring that all initiatives are designed to optimize resource allocation while maintaining compliance with fiscal policies.

The Senior Administrator plays a crucial role in enhancing community safety and reducing victimization, by establishing robust performance measures and continuously assessing program effectiveness. The Reentry Center Senior Administrator is a critical leader within DOC, driving the mission to positively change lives provides people with focused opportunities for success.

As a Reentry Administrator, some of your duties will include:

  • Making decisions on investigations as Appointing Authority as well as disciplinary decisions
  • Managing operational administrators who manage Reentry Center Managers as well as project managers
  • Serving in a senior-level policy research and development capacity, authoring thirteen policies
  • Making decisions on investigations as appointing authority as well as disciplinary decisions
  • Approving all AAR, FMLA, AWS's, appointment letters, reviews all psychological reports and attends reentry executive management meetings for strategizing the future of the reentry program
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal laws including the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)
  • Approving all overtime, training, resident service contracts associated with the administration of minimum custody level correctional facilities in the community

What we need (required qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree

AND

  • Five or more years broad based, progressive managerial or administrative experience to include supervisory experience

OR

  • High School diploma or equivalent

AND

  • Nine or more years broad based, progressive managerial or administrative experience to include supervisory experience

In addition to the above education/experience, the following knowledge, skills and/or abilities are required:

  • Community skills and leadership competencies, including mediating, negotiating and resolving conflict
  • Working knowledge and application of constitutional requirements, WAC’s, RCW’s, policies, operational memoranda, relevant court decisions, and appropriate federal interstate Compact and PREA law
  • Working knowledge and application of labor/management relations, including collective bargaining, negotiating, grievance resolution, WAC’s, discipline and mediation
  • Facility Management
  • Project Management
  • Fiscal management balancing multiple priorities to insure safe and secure facilities
  • Years of experience may substitute for education

Telework Details

This position may be allocated for telework. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a “drop in” area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
