The Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections is seeking qualified candidates to fill Human Resources Analyst positions (levels A, B, and C). This role supports critical HR functions including employee relations, leave administration, payroll/timekeeping, recruitment, and compliance with Civil Service rules and departmental policies.
Applicants should possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information in a fast-paced environment. Experience in human resources, payroll, or personnel management is preferred.

Three years of human resources experience; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
A bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

- Analyze HR data to identify trends in hiring, turnover, compensation, and employee engagement.
- Create clear reports and dashboards to support decision-making across the organization.
- Maintain and audit LaGov data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Support process improvements by evaluating HR workflows and recommending enhancements.
- Assist with job analysis, compensation research, and updates to job descriptions.
- Prepare compliance reports and support audits related to HR policies and employment regulations.
- Partner with HR teams to provide insights that improve employee experience and workforce planning.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
- Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
- An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
- This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
- Human Resources Analyst A has an SER of $ 20.02 per hour
- Human Resources Analyst B has an SER of $ 21.61 per hour
- Human Resources Analyst C has an SER of $ 24.31 per hour
