Introduction

The Police Records Supervisor plans, organizes and supervises the employees involved in the maintenance and administration of police records within the City

The Police Records Supervisor plans, organizes and supervises assigned employees involved in the maintenance and administration of police records within the City’s Police Department. Unit provides 24/7 coverage for a variety of essential law enforcement functions. Following initial training, newly assigned supervisor(s) may be assigned to evening/overnight shift. 

Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $39.23/hour or $81,577.60/annually.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
  • Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible supervisory/administrative experience.
  • Must have at least six months of Lead or Supervisory experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

Licensing, Certification and Other Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain an Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) certification. Training is provided on duty and certification testing is completed within first six months of hire.
  • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

Other pertinent licenses and /or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.

 

Essential Functions

Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:

  • Supervises employees and coordinates personnel-related activities to include, but not limited to: training, approving work schedules, recommending/approving personnel actions, coaching and counseling, establishing performance goals, and writing performance evaluations.
  • Directs training programs and prepares performance appraisals on subordinate staff.
  • Develops procedures for accuracy and data processing of records functions, including programs for retrieval of statistical data.
  • Monitors and prepares written reports on Division statistics, information composites and procurement needs.
  • Implements new policies and procedures where appropriate; insures compliance with State and national security as well as privacy laws and regulations.

  • Lift and carry files weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Climb, bend and stoop to reach files.
  • Sits approximately 70%, walks approximately 10%, and stands approximately 20% of work day.
  • Operates a variety of standard office equipment, which requires continuous and repetitive arm, hand and eye movements.
  • Shift work including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to maintain 24-hour coverage of the Records Unit.
  • May be required to work overtime.

PLEASE NOTE: Years of experience are based on a work schedule of 2,080 hours per year for full-time positions and 1,040 hours per year for part-time positions, and while work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
