The City of Manhattan Beach is now accepting applications for the position of Police Services Officer. The Police Department is busy and looking for an individual who likes to work in a fast-paced setting and has a vast knowledge and experience in public safety to join our team.
Under general direction, the incumbent performs duties in several areas of the police department which including property control, front desk relief, and jail facility, along with administrative and clerical duties as assigned.

- Performs various duties associated with the maintenance and operation of the jail facility.
- Searches, fingerprints, processes, supervises, transports and releases inmates; testifies and presents evidence in court; and serves subpoenas.
- Tracks inventory and orders supplies; staffs the police front desk, if assigned.
- Keeps records and takes reports of a minor nature not requiring or warranting the presence of a sworn officer.
- Operates motor vehicles, office, and communications equipment as necessary.
- Maintains evidence and lost and found items in property control unit.
- Assists in crime prevention and community relations programs.
- Interviews and records statements from individuals and creates complete and factual reports.
- Administers first aid, as needed.
- May be required to work shifts, holidays, and/or weekends.
Education/Training/ Experience:
- Requires a High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent AND one (1) year of experience involving public contact.
- Experience working for a police department is highly desirable.
License: Must have a valid CA driver’s license at the time of employment.
Knowledge of: Title 15 of California Code of Regulations; police department polices, practices and procedures; safety rules and procedures; self-defense methods and physical restraint techniques; general office procedures and equipment operations.
Skills in: Operating general office equipment and basic mathematical skills.
Ability to: Write clearly and concisely in English; understand departmental policies and procedures; follow written and oral instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public; and proficiency in conversational Spanish is desirable.
Special Requirements:
- Candidate must successfully complete the Adult Corrections Core Course Academy within the prescribed training period.
- Candidates must successfully complete a polygraph test, psychological and medical examinations, and an extensive background investigation process prior to appointment.

- Oral Interview is tentatively scheduled for August 13, 2025.
* Final appointment in the Police Department is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of an extensive background investigation and a polygraph examination.
