Description Under the general supervision of the Police Chief, performs a variety of routine administrative and clerical work in support of law enforcement activities. Essential Job Functions:
  • Coordinates and assists in prisoner transport.
  • Assists in prisoner booking and handling procedures
  • Coordinates prisoner meals and assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the jail
  • Assist in maintaining vehicle fleet
  • Searches prisoners as needed.
  • Undertakes limited community oriented police work, and assists citizens with such matters as locked or stalled vehicles, crime prevention, animal control, traffic safety, parking enforcement, traffic direction, etc.
  • Composes a variety of correspondence, reports and other materials requiring independent judgment as to content, accuracy and completeness.
  • Assists records in evidence/property procedures
  • Represent and commit to building a culture inclusive of diversity, equity, inclusion, ethics, and trust.
  • Meet all job safety requirements and standards that pertain to the essential functions of the position.
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
Other Duties & Responsibilities: Schedules appointments, meetings, makes reservations, and arranges a variety of conferences and meetings.MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment; no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven years; must be able to read and write the English language; or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge: Modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques and equipment.
  • Skills: The operation of most of the tools and equipment listed below.
  • Abilities: Learn the applicable laws, ordinances and department rules and regulations; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers and supervisors; follow verbal and written instructions; and learn the City’s geography.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
  • Personal computer, including word processing and specialized software.
  • Police radio, phone, calculator, fax machine, copy machine.
  • Police car, police radio, handcuffs, pager, and first aid equipment.
  • Animal Control Equipment
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and ability to maintain continuing eligibility under the City’s driver eligibility standards.APPLICATION PROCESS:
