This position functions as the Office Manager for the District Office. Position serves as first line supervisor for support staff and as administrative assistant to the District Manager. Position is responsible for Human Resources functions within the district, purchasing, mail operations, property control, inventory control, vehicle management, rental and leases, security and telecommunications, and daily management of the office.

Three years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been in a corrections or law enforcement setting:

Six years of experience in administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of experience in administrative services; OR

A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:

As a Corrections Support Specialist Supervisor, you will lead and oversee administrative and operational support functions within a correctional setting, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with established policies and procedures. In this role, you will:

  • Manage routine administrative matters, responding to requests for reports and information from internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare a variety of documents including correspondence, warrants, motions, orders, hearings, investigative reports, and confidential materials
  • Track and coordinate employee training hours, ensuring compliance with departmental requirements and scheduling as needed
  • Maintain and update administrative manuals and policies, including departmental procedures, civil service guidelines, payroll, and benefits information
  • Serve as liaison with State Archives by coordinating case file retrieval, tracking, and documentation for records storage and return
  • Assign and oversee daily workflow, ensuring adequate coverage for front desk operations, intake, document processing, and compliance tracking
  • Train staff on procedures such as fingerprinting, file assembly, legal document review, and electronic records management
  • Audit files and records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards
  • Supervise Corrections Support Specialist staff

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)

  • The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted, or may be required to accept a probational appointment.
Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $24.31 per hour. Note regarding the advertised pay range: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and NOT the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
