Salary:

  • Starting:
    • $80,276.96 - Non-Certified Officer
    • $88,951.83 - Certified Officers with less than 2 years of service
    • $94,505.58 - Certified Officers with more than 3 years of service

    Salaries effective May 1, 2025 based on full-time law enforcement experience in Illinois

Position Details

The Westmont, IL Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is now Accepting Application for Police Officer and Lateral Police Officer!

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Authorized to work in the United States under federal law or qualified under the federal
  • Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) for deferred immigration action
  • Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license, by time of hire
  • High school graduate or GED
  • No felony convictions
  • 21 to under 35 years of age by date of the written exam unless otherwise exempt by Statute
  • (entry-level only)
  • Residency required within DuPage County or counties contiguous to DuPage County by the end
  • of 18-month probationary period
  • If hired, you must be physically fit to pass the POWER test upon entering an Illinois Police
  • Academy (entry-level only)
  • Must obtain valid Firearms Owners ID Card (FOID)

To be considered for lateral hire you must:

  • Hold a Illinois Law Enforcement Certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILESTB)
  • Law enforcement officer in good standing (part-time certification as a law enforcement officer does not meet this requirement), OR
    • candidates must hold an equivalent certification from another state (completed basic police training program/academy) which can be transferred and accepted by the ILETSB.
  • For a conditional waiver of Illinois basic law enforcement training and reciprocity with ILESTB, you must pass all requirements, including but not limited to:
    • Mandatory firearms training
    • Illinois Law for Police Course
    • Equivalency exam within six months of hire

Virtual Testing Information:

Mandatory virtual written examination will be held:

Week of July 28, 2025, during business hours

Now weeknight or weekend sessions will be available.

Exact dates/times will be released to eligible candidates. It is your responsibility to ensure you have the flexibility to test during these times.
