    Experienced Officer Program (For applicants with 5+ years of law enforcement experience):

Eligibility & Reciprocity Requirements Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Must be law enforcement certified or currently enrolled in a recruit academy
  • Availability for day, night, overnight, and rotating shifts
  • Must reside in Portage County, WI, or within 30 miles of Plover's jurisdictional boundary at employment start

WISCONSIN LAW ENFORCEMENT RECIPROCITY EXAMINATION:

Applicants with prior law enforcement or military police experience may qualify for a waiver of preparatory training if they meet ALL of the following:

  1. Meet the minimum employment standards set forth in Wisconsin Administrative Code Chapter LES 2
  2. Completed preparatory law enforcement officer training in another state, military, or federal government, comparable to Wisconsin's academy
  3. Held full-time employment as a certified or licensed law enforcement officer, tribal law enforcement officer, or in a qualifying Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) (e.g., Military Police, Security Forces, Master-at-Arms) for at least one (1) year, fully empowered and paid for all hours worked, voluntarily left in good standing, and have been out of the role for less than three (3) years
