Salary:

  • Starting: $71,036 ($73,167 effective May 1, 2026)

    8th year & after: $109,507 ($112,792 after May 1, 2026)

Why Hickory Hills?

The City of Hickory Hills Police Department is a professional, community-focused municipal agency serving approximately 14,000 residents in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Our 28 sworn officers police a diverse mix of residential, commercial, and light industrial areas across 3 square miles, allowing officers to gain broad experience while working in a close-knit department that is well-supported and appreciated by the residents we serve.

Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • At least 21 years of age and under 35, or otherwise qualified under
  • Section 10-2.1-6 of the Illinois Municipal Code (65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid POWER Card issued by a certified testing agency
  • (NIPSTA, Joliet Junior College, or Triton College), dated January 2025 or later
  • Ability to successfully complete written and oral exams, background investigation, fingerprinting, psychological evaluation, polygraph examination, and medical exam
