Police Chief

The City of Westport, Washington, seeks a visionary, values-driven leader to serve as its next Police Chief.
Under the direction of the City Administrator, the Police Chief is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the Police Department in all areas of law enforcement and public safety. This position directly supervises a police force of six officers and one clerk. The Chief is responsible for achieving departmental goals and objectives established jointly with the Mayor, City Council, and City Administrator.

The Westport Police Department responds to approximately 4,200 calls for service each year with a 2024 department budget of $1.2 million. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience across all facets of law enforcement, proven leadership, and a demonstrated commitment to fostering trust within both the department and the community.
Minimum Qualifications:

• Ten (10) years of supervisory law enforcement experience.
  
• At least two (2) years of experience at the rank of Sergeant or higher preferred.
  
• Current certification, or the ability to obtain certification, as a police officer through the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (CJTC).
