We're a progressive, community-focused policing agency looking for a Police Lieutenant to join our team!

In this role, you'll plan, organize, and direct daily operations of a unit or patrol shift. You'll tackle special law enforcement tasks, conduct research, prepare reports, and help develop plans that align with our department's goals. Distinguishing Characteristics

The Lieutenant is a sworn management position reporting to the Town Marshal. You'll have the freedom to make independent decisions while managing daily operations. This role is different from a Police Sergeant because you'll oversee a major division of the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office, including Records Division, Property and Evidence, and more.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage staff by delegating tasks, monitoring work, and evaluating performance. You'll keep everyone informed about departmental changes and ensure effective communication on law enforcement issues.
  • Maintain discipline and ensure compliance with Department policies. You'll make sure that all staff are ready for duty, well-trained, and accountable.
  • Conduct staff briefings, coordinate schedules, and monitor overtime. You'll review reports and keep Command staff updated on significant developments.
  • Train and develop personnel, conduct performance evaluations, and address any job performance issues.
  • Prepare reports for the Marshal about department activities and supervise investigations of suspected crimes. 
  • Participate in meetings to discuss and resolve issues. You'll work with the Town Marshal to set goals and promote community-based crime prevention programs.
  • Step in as a Police Officer when needed, enforcing laws and regulations while supporting your fellow officers.
  • Uphold the integrity and values of the Department by ensuring all rules are followed and public trust is maintained.
  • Take on other related duties as assigned.

Managerial Responsibilities

You'll directly supervise first-line supervisors and other law enforcement or civilian personnel.

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications

  • Must obtain: AzPOST certification
  • Must obtain: AzPOST general instructor certification
  • Must possess: State of Arizona Driver's license
