Description

Join the Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) in the role of Corrections Institutional Supervisor at the Adult Correctional Facility (ACF). Our ACF operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and the work is fast paced. This role will offer a wealth of growth opportunities in the form of management, staff development, mentoring, and coaching. Location and hours:
This position is located at the Hennepin County ACF at 1145 Shenandoah Lane North, Plymouth, MN 55447. There is no public transportation to this location. Work hours are typically Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on-call availability during non-business hours.

In this position, you will:

  • Manage and assist staff development including providing opportunities for mentoring, coaching, and professional development.
  • Directly supervise and assist with the development of corrections supervisors and other ACF staff when assigned.
  • Manage an area or unit, including, but not limited to, planning, supervising, and evaluating programs at the direction of the Division Manager.
  • Develop, write, interpret, update, and implement policies and procedures for Minnesota Department of Corrections, Hennepin County, Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation, and ACF standards and protocols, opportunity for rotation to other units within the division. 
  • Establish and monitor standards for staff performance and quality of work, perform selection and training of staff, evaluate staff performance, and conduct investigations for policy and procedure violations.
  • Lead and coordinate large initiatives and efforts such as, but not limited to, the supportof eliminating disparities of outcome for those involved in the criminal justice system and advancing equity within DOCCR systems and services. 
  • Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission and core values for diversity, equity & inclusion.


Need to have:

  • One of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree in non-related field, andfour years or more of experience listed as a probation/parole officer, correctional officer/juvenile correctional officer, social worker, or supervisor in a correctional or residential treatment setting. 
    • Bachelor's degree incriminal justice, behavioral/social science, or business, correctional or public administration or equivalent, and three years or more of experience as a probation/parole officer, correctional officer/juvenile correctional officer, social worker, or supervisor in a correctional or residential treatment setting. 
    • Master's degree or higher in criminal justice, behavioral/social science, or business, correctional or public administration or equivalent, andtwo years or more of experience as a probation/parole officer, correctional officer/juvenile correctional officer, social worker, or supervisor in a correctional or residential treatment setting.
    • Note: The Evidence Based Practice Corrections Professional Certificate may be substituted for one year of relevant coursework or one year of relevant experience.
    • Note: Additional position related supervisory experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
  • Ability to remain on-call during non-business hours with a county issued cell phone.

    • Working in a correctional facility.
    • Using Evidence Based Practices as it relates to providing services to offenders committed to correction facilities.
    • Training and/or leading a team through organizational and/or service change.
    • Leading change, eliminating disparities, and creating equity.
    • Working with computer software and data protocols to ensure data integrity.
    • Working with offenders in residential facilities or treatment settings.
  • Technical knowledge of correctional policies and procedures.
  • Organizational skills including the ability to retrieve and appropriately use data in decision making.
  • Written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
