Position: Professional Standards Manager
Salary Range: Starting at $64,900-$70,400
The Lancaster County Detention Center is seeking an experienced and motivated leader to add to our staff. This will be a new position for our facility that will become necessary when our new Detention Center (currently under construction) opens. In addition to the duties listed below the ideal candidate will have a strong background in policy and process development. As we prepare for the opening of the new facility this position will assist the Operation’s Captain in developing and implementing new policies and procedures. Knowledge of ACA Accreditation will be important as this position will be responsible for guiding the facility to achieving accreditation.
Maintains overall responsibility for Accreditation Process.
Researches, Prepares, interprets, and enforces policies and procedures as necessary to maintain efficient and effective operations.
Works with Detention Center staff to ensure that facility standards are being met. Duties include instructing, assigning, and reviewing work, planning, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, acting on employee problems, selecting new employees, recommending/approving discipline, and recommending transfers, promotions, termination, and salary increases. Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; evaluates and makes recommendations for improvement as appropriate; offers advice and assistance as needed.
Investigates personnel complaints and allegations made by the public or other law enforcement officers; administers disciplinary action as required.
Receives and responds to citizen inquiries, complaints and requests for assistance.
Assists with the hiring process and recruitment activities. Assists with hiring process at the Sheriff’s Office. Receives initial applications, conducts preliminary background investigations, plans, coordinates, and oversees the initial testing process. Assists with background investigations.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field supplemented by five years of corrections experience or equivalent, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have successfully completed required law enforcement coursework and hold required law enforcement certifications. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
